How To Build A Tree Swing There are 2 types of tree swings that we’re used to play with, one of this is tire swing while the other is wooden seat swing. Both of the said swings are quite simple to make and hangs on a strong branch to your backyard. So what you need to build either of the two, these are going to be an old tire, which must have a big diameter, a heavy rope, an inch hole saw and drill, 2″ x 6″ x 18″ lumber (sanded smooth without rough edges), chain (optional), tape measure, ladder and a sturdy branch. If you want to build a tire tree swing, here are the instructions to make it happen:
The Ultimate Guide to Trees
Step number 1. Choose a tree branch that seems to be strong and is 6 – 8 feet above ground. Make sure to remove branches that can present an obstacle for the swing.
Why No One Talks About Swings Anymore
Step number 2. Measure from top of the branch to the distance above the ground that you like the top of swing to be. Needless to say, the higher it has to sit above ground if the tire is big. Step number 3. Lay the rope out at least 2 1/2 times longer than you need it be from the chosen branch to your swing and follow this length to cut the rope. Step number 4. Fold the rope to half and evenly bring the ends together while leaving a loop at the other end. Put the tire over the looped end of the rope. Step number 5. Bring the ends of the rope on the loop and pull it until the tire is tightly against the rope. Step number 6. Tie the rope’s end on the tree branch and adjust it according to the height you want. Once you’re comfortable with the height, secure it tightly by placing series of knots. If you want to have a wooden swing however, here is a simple way to build one. Step number 1. Drill a couple of 1 inch holes with at least 2 inches from every side of the board. There has to be 2 holes for each end of the board. Step number 2. Get the distance from top of tree branch to your desired height of swing. Cut 2 ropes 3x longer than what you’ve measured. Step number 3. Thread one end of the rope through one of the holes and the other end of the board, back it up through the other hole of the same side. Pull the rope until both ends are even. Repeat the process with the opposite end of the board. Step number 4. Tie each rope over tree branch securely in order to keep the swing below level.
