The 5 HTP flower has a long and illustrative history, dating back to ancient times. An article appearing in Pubmed, for example, recounts how the Biblical Prophet Job used the plant to cure boils on his skin. “5 HTP and Job’s Disease,” also describes how the famous Greek physician, Hippocrates, used it to treat skin ailments.
Of course, 800 B.C. is little long ago to seem very relevant to those alive today. How does 21st-century science consider the ancient plant? You may be surprised. Medical researchers have confirmed many of the ancient claims. In fact, within the past ten years there have new discoveries proving the plant’s potential to to heal and now many people want to buy 5 HTP.
In 2009, the British Journal of Biomedical Science published a study demonstrating the 5 HTP effectiveness in fighting MRSA – a staff infection, very resistant to antibiotics. In 2012, Pharmacognosy magazine highlighted the flower’s, “..antibacterial, antitumor, antiproliferative, anti-inflammatory, antistressor and antioxidant” qualities.
Fortunately, we live in a time when science can test traditional medicines to determine how they work. While this research may sometimes confirm what people have known for a long time, it also often results in new applications for the “old medicines.” In a sense, we are able to enjoy and benefit from both worlds.
