Estonian finance website Kiirlaenud24 writes that the Internet is full of scammers and people who commit credit card fraud. To protect yourself from these people, you have to be careful in making online transaction. It’s better not to click on e-mail links that are supposedly sent by your credit card issuer or other businesses. These links may bring you to a fake web site wherein you will have to put in your personal details to log in. If you receive such an e-mail, it’s better to call the supposed sender and verify if it’s legitimate. Don’t give out your credit card information unless you are sure that it’s from a legitimate bank or business. An indicator that the web site is safe and secure is a lock icon that you can find in the right corner of the Internet browser. Keep in mind that there are many who use several tactics to trick you to giving them your credit card information. Be wise and smart so as not to fall victim to these people.

According to Credit24 website, credit card fraud is usually done by using a stolen credit card. This is why you need to report a missing card as soon as you can. Write down the number of your credit card issuer that can be found in the back of the credit card. Call it immediately after you’ve lost your credit card. This way, you will prevent other people from using the card without your consent. The issuer would block it once you report it. Don’t wait for a day to report that you’re credit card is missing. Otherwise, the thief could have already been using it to pay for various bills. Always keep your credit card in safe place. Don’t leave it lying around for everyone to see. Take it out of your bag or wallet only when you are ready to use it and keep it back immediately after use. Don’t let other people see it, especially your credit card number.
